Well lately I've been really wanting to get back into this sort of hand toning that I liked in highschool. When I told my drawing teacher he really pushed me to get back into it since I love to work with line so much and I enjoy little details.
I finally took his advice and sat down and started drawing again.

I'm really proud of this its the only thing I've drawn for myself since the summer (except for small little things).
I'm still working out the flaws in this (such as the ground not overlapping on things) and I'm trying to figure out other ways to go about portraying the ground and other objects but I think this is a good start.

So what do you guys think?
(oh and because I'm in a creative block I based this off my Marionette picture)

This looks absolutely fantastic. :) I think to get the ground looking more natural and give more perspective, you could try having the pattern become smaller and more dense (if that makes any sense) as it extends further back into the scene.

Other than that, it looks great, I especially love the pattern you used in the sky.

Thanks ^^
And yeah i agree about the background it was kind of an afterthought so i think thats also why it looks off.
I've never been very good with backgrounds lol

This is gorgeously dreamy! The marionette looks so haunting. I am an artist who gets inspired mostly by emotions and personal experiences, and looking at this piece, makes me wonder if this was inspired by some tragic experiences in your life. Anyway, I love how you drew the sky or clouds, those swirls are so hypnotic! <3 Your rendering is very good. Keep up the good work!

^^ thank you :D I've been looking into doing more stuff like this because i enjoyed it so much but i haven't drawn a piece lately that i felt it would work well with. I've gotten some new Ideas on different ways to use line from your "Visions" piece though so hopefully I'll come up with something soon so i can do more detailed pieces like this :3
